Firstly - we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.
Well, another year has passed by and boy has it been a busy one! Each of us are a little wiser and older, and according to Liam, being the ripe old age of 9 means you know everything! So whats new, standard 9 year old I hear you say ....anyway, what have we been up to since the June update?
Life in the Perry house has a tendancy to revolve around sport, funny that! Since the June update we have done rugby (Sean), soccer (Liam), TaeKwonDo (both boys), skiing (all of us), tennis (Mal), golf (Sean and Mal), cricket playing (Sean, Liam, Mal), cricket coaching (Mal), cricket administration (Chrissy), BMX racing (Liam), BMX administration (Chrissy) and then there is the usual work committments for Chrissy and Mal and school studies for Sean and Liam. Needless to say Chrissy and I go off in different directions to attend trainings, games etc. Thank goodness for two cars!
The boys have had reasonable sporting success during the second half of the year - Liam won the trophy for soccer "Junior Player of the Year". He was chuffed about this as Sean had won the same trophy 3 seasons earlier. And Liam also had great success at the North Island BMX champs. He came 4th out of 40 odd riders, beating some riders ranked higher in the process. Sean had a good rugby season playing either first five or centre. He is a tenacious tackler and deceptive runner with the ball and a well liked player in the squad. He also takes all conversions and penalties as he has a very good kicking boot on him. He has also achieved representative honours for cricket, selected in the Horowhenua-Kapiti Under 12 team, and vice-captain to boot. He has also achieved higher honours being selected in the HK Under 13 Central Districts selection team. This team goes to a tournament in January with 8 other regional squads and a CD team is selected to represent the 8 regions. Mal has been appointed manager/assisstant coach for both the Under12 and Under13 squads, meaning our weekends are very busy indeed!
On the work front Chrissy has recently taken up the position of Head Office Manager for Talentpoint. The business is based on the Kapiti Coast so is very convenient and allows Chrissy to work 9am - 3pm four days a week. For Mal he has, after 8 years at TAB, decided to take 6 months leave from January 2007. Essentially Mal will be having a well earned break from corporate life to spend more time with Sean, Liam and Chrissy. It will also be a chance to assess the future for himself, the family, clear the mind and also spend some time on personal business interests. For those interested the following web sites are the relevant business interests - www.talentpoint.co.nz , www.peoplenet.co.nz , www.techtalent.co.nz , www.jobcafe.co.nz .
As for the summer holidays we will be heading for our section at Waiotahi Beach on the 26th December, staying right through to the 26th January. If you are in the area then please do drop in for a cuppa and a catchup, we might even fire up the barbie. To find us go to www.maps.google.com and do a search on Waiotahi Beach, Opotiki, NZ.
We wish you all the very best for Christmas and please take care over the holiday period and have a fantastic break.
cheers from Chrissy, Sean, Liam and Mal.
